Hangovers Aren’t Real

About the organisation

Between 2018 and 2021 Proper Good delivered fundraising films for Cure Parkinson’s, a charity focused on finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

They fund research to slow, stop, or reverse the disease.

About the project

Proper Good produced this short film which is set for festival release in 2026.

Directed by Ellicia Lotherington and co-written by Persephone Wood, this story is about the funny and sometimes messy ways we try to cope with grief.

On an island where the wind never settles, a magnetic and reckless young woman loses herself in tequila, strangers and the warmth of someone else’s husband. Until she starts sneaking off to the toilets to leave voice messages for a father who can no longer answer.

Told in reverse, the performance slowly begins to crack, exposing a woman doing everything in her power to avoid sitting still long enough to feel anything real.
